We present you the project of The Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation of the Republic of Poland.
The Ministry along with Maritime University of Gdynia and Salesian Missionary Voluntary Service – Youth for the World organize a cruise around the world to celebrates the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty.
‘Dar Młodzieży’ is a Polish sail training ship designed by Zygmunt Choreń, Polish legendary naval architect. The vessel itself is well-known as the first Polish-built, ocean-going sailing vessel to circumnavigate the globe.
The cruise will take place between May 2018 and March 2019 and organizers plan for the SV ‘Dar Młodzieży’ to moor in the following ports and locations: Gdynia, Lisbon, Tenerife, Dakar, Cape Town, Mauritius, Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Acapulco, Panama, New York, Horta and Antwerp.
Poland plans to organize promotional events in the ports of destination. We plan to promote both economic and cultural cooperation between the countries.
The shape of the cruise represents Polish history. Many locations were important directions of Polish emigration. We would like to use the cruise to initiate and to develop relations with all of the destination countries by creating positive image of Poland and getting to know our international partners.
We plan to organize accompanying events for local port authorities as well as government representatives. We hope that these events will enhance new relations and help to develop these already existing. Therefore, these events will be available not only for government and authorities, but also for public, both for local citizens and Polish living abroad.
Coordinating Secretariat for Maritime Issues supports the project, especially during the events in Chinese ports: Shanghai and Hong Kong.
