CEEC- China 2nd Transport Ministers’ Meeting & Business Forum

On 25-26 October 2017 the CEEC – China 2nd  Transport Ministers’ Meeting & Business Forum (‘16+1’ format) was held in Warsaw. The leading theme was “Intermodality as a guarantee of effective transport for the benefit of the economy”.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation of Poland, and it was addressed to representatives of both the public administration and the business circles of the ‘16+1’ format.

The main goal of the conference was to provide an opportunity for political representatives and business representatives to meet, so that the partners of each domain could discuss specific projects, the potential for cooperation and future plans.

This format of cooperation has a great potential for growth, as European countries continue to show high growth rates, and the economy of the People’s Republic of China, although still ranking second in the world, keeps developing dynamically.

The event gathered high-level representatives of the ministries responsible for transport from all “16 + 1” countries, including representatives of the People’s Republic of China: Mr He Jianzhong, Deputy Minister of Transport, Her Excellency Ms Huo Yuzhen, China’s Special Representative for China CEE Cooperation Affairs. The event was officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister Beata Szydło.

On the second day (October 26, 2017), the Business Forum was officially inaugurated by the presentation of the Coordination Secretariat for Maritime Issue “16+1”. Later, within two separate business panels, participants were introduced to topics related to inland navigation and sea ports as factors of economic development. The last part was an opportunity to present transport and logistics potential for companies in the “16 + 1” format countries.

We hope that the 2nd Transport Ministers Meeting & Business Forum fulfilled its role as a place for discussing transport issues with the participation  of politics and business representatives.
