Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Co. has started the preparation for training courses on sustainable environmental management of ports and their surrounding coastal areas. The training will be delivered through a dedicated web-based platform and will target stakeholders in ports and surrounding coastal areas. BPI Co. will train experts using innovative training tools, and anyone who has successfully completed the course will receive a special certificate.
The innovative courses are organized within the ECOPORTIL project. The need for specialized training has been studied through stakeholders in Greece, Albania, Cyprus and Bulgaria. Based on the studies conducted, a common educational model was created for all participating countries, including specific educational material on important cases. The training will cover topics related to port environment management legislation, energy efficiency, waste management, monitoring and certification systems and environmental mapping procedures.
The project Environmental Protection of Areas Surrounding Ports using Innovative Learning Tools for Legislation – ECOPORTIL is approved for funding under the Transnational Cooperation Programme Balkans – Mediterranean 2014-2020. The aim of the project is to improve the environmental quality of ports and surrounding coastal areas by supporting their sustainability through the application of contemporary technologies and good practices.
The training courses will be free of charge and information on their implementation will be available on www.ecoportil.eu/newsletters/ и www.bgports.bg.
