On June the 17th, 2019, the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas (MARA), research institutes and associations of fisheries in China met the representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation of Poland. This bilateral meeting took place in Warsaw. Head of the Chinese delegation was Director of the Fisheries Office in MARA, Mr. Zhang Xianliang.
From the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation side, the persons leading the meeting were the director of the Department of International Cooperation, Mr. Michał Wójcik and the Deputy Director of the Fisheries Department, Mr. Tomasz Tereszkiewicz. The meeting was also attended by other representatives of the Department of International Cooperation and the Head of Unit of Market and Fish Processing in the Fisheries Department, Mr. Piotr Słowik, who presented detailed data on fish processing in Poland.
The topics of the meeting were: the possibilities of deepening cooperation between Poland and China in the field of import and export of fish and fish products, exchange of experience in the field of scientific research and plans of Polish processors to take part in seafood fairs in China this year.
The parties expressed their willingness to continue cooperation in the abovementioned areas. Representatives of the People’s Republic of China asked for information on institutes investigating fisheries in Poland and declared their support in the organization of the Polish national stall during the trade fair in Qingdao, China. In addition, representatives of the Department of Fisheries exchanged detailed statistics with Chinese partners in relation to the demand for fish in both markets and to what extent this demand is being supplied by the import from third countries.
