The Port of Gdansk is to undergo a huge expansion programme as an outcome of successful high-level meetings between Polish government, port and industry representatives and their Singaporean counterparts last week.
Shipping in the 17 + 1 countries for the sake of being an important source of employment and income has always been the key to achieving prosperity and economic growth. In rapidly developing countries, investment in human capital plays a key role in economic development. The current changes and the growing importance of the Polish maritime economy create new perspectives for women in the maritime industry.
The official opening was made by Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia and Zorana Mihajlović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure. The Chinese side was represented by Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport.
Members of the agreement have met in in the headquarter of the Port of Gdynia. As the result, six new members have jointed the initiative – logistics operator PKP Cargo Connect Ltd., Baltic Container Terminal Ltd., Advanced World Transport a.s. (PKP CARGO group) and autorities of Polish ports Elbląg, Kołobrzeg and Police.
The Baltic Ports Conference 2018 will be held on 5-7 September in Szczecin, Poland. The BPC2018 will tackle multiple issues currently relevant to the maritime sector in the Europe and the Baltic region.
