The improvement of transport communication between Poland and V4 countries will facilitate access to the Polish seaports

The A1 motorway is a road belonging to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and the priority project “Highway Gdańsk – Brno / Bratislava – Vienna”. The A1 route is the only A-class road with a meridian course that crosses the entire territory of the Republic of Poland and forms the main communication route connecting the Tricity (Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot) with the Czech border in Gorzyczki, and indirectly also with Toruń, Łódź and Katowice.

On July 23, 2018 was signed a contract for the implementation of the next section of the A1 motorway between Częstochowa and the border of the Śląskie and Łódzkie Voivodships. 17 km of the route will be built from the border with the Łódź Voivodeship to the upcoming Częstochowa bypass.

The value of works in the “Design and Build” system is about 596.5 km. By the end of August, we are planning to sign contracts for three subsequent episodes and in September for the last fragment. Thus, contractors will prepare project documentation for the entire 80-kilometer route, and after obtaining a permit to carry out a road investment, they will physically begin construction in this field – Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) informs.

The launch of these investments will significantly contribute to the completion of the entire A1, which is one of the most important roads in Poland. The planned date of completion of works is the middle of 2022. Completing the A1 route will facilitate access to the Polish seaports for entrepreneurs from the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Hungary. As a result it will contribute to the development of the economy both in local and national terms.
